Delhi-based handcrafted luxury footwear label dmodot has secured Rs. 1.35 crore (US $ 152,000) in funding for a 30% equity stake, valuing the company at Rs. 4.5 crore (US $ 507,000), on JioHotstar’s business reality series Pitch to Get Rich.
Founded by designer and entrepreneur Abhishek Sharma, dmodot impressed the show’s investor panel — comprising Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra and Malaika Arora — with its focus on craftsmanship, ethical sourcing and modern design sensibilities.
Sharma, Founder and CEO of dmodot, said the investment reflected recognition for India’s creative legacy and skilled artisanship. He noted that the funding validated the concept of “quiet luxury,” rooted in design, authenticity and craftsmanship and demonstrated its strong potential in India’s evolving retail landscape.
Established in 2016, dmodot blends traditional Indian shoemaking techniques with contemporary aesthetics. Its product range includes loafers, mules, mojris and sneakers, with a strong emphasis on comfort, craftsmanship and sustainable design. The brand also promotes inclusivity through an extensive size range from 36 to 50.
With the fresh infusion of capital, dmodot aims to open exclusive experience studios in Delhi and Mumbai by mid-2025, strengthen its e-commerce footprint in international markets such as the UAE, UK and Singapore and collaborate with leading Indian designers on limited-edition collections. The brand also plans to double its production capacity while continuing to prioritise artisan-led processes.
