ThredUp, the online resale platform, has appointed Danielle Vermeer as its Head of Social Commerce, effective January 2025. This newly created role underscores the company’s focus on enhancing customer engagement through innovative shopping experiences.
Vermeer, a seasoned fashion tech executive, brings over 13 years of experience in e-commerce and resale. She is currently the co-founder and CEO of Teleport, a social commerce app that offers a TikTok-inspired platform for buying and selling secondhand fashion. Teleport will cease operations in late November 2024, and its users will receive exclusive discounts to transition to ThredUp.
Commenting on the appointment, ThredUp CEO James Reinhart said, “Danielle is a great asset to our team because of her extensive knowledge of the secondhand market and her proven track record of creating captivating resale platforms.”
Before founding Teleport, Vermeer held leadership roles at Amazon, where she spearheaded the launch of Amazon Fashion’s luxury resale business. She expressed her enthusiasm about joining ThredUp, stating, “I’m thrilled to be a part of an organisation that has transformed online secondhand buying.”
This move aligns with ThredUp’s mission to make reselling more accessible and engaging for a broader audience.
