In place of Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd., the BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that Adidas will henceforth sponsor the Indian cricket team’s uniforms. After MPL Sports pulled out of the sponsorship agreement, Adidas took over.
“I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s partnership with @adidas as a kit sponsor. We are committed to growing the game of cricket and could not be more excited to partner with one of the world’s leading sportswear brands. Welcome aboard, @adidas,” Jay Shah tweeted.

On 31st May, Killer Jeans, the current sponsor, will have fulfilled the terms of its agreement, and Adidas will take over as the new kit sponsor. Up until Killer Jeans came over, MPL was India’s kit sponsor. MPL paid the Indian board 6.5 lakh each match and 9 crores in royalties for a three-year arrangement in order to get its contract, which was initially due to expire in 2023, terminated earlier than expected.
Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has previously received personal sponsorship from Adidas. But this is the first time the brand has entered the team sport of cricket. It is also well known for sponsoring elite tennis and football players around the globe.
