Bata India is optimistic about a rebound in demand despite experiencing a recent slowdown in consumption. The company expects the upcoming festive season to drive a recovery in sales, overcoming the temporary dip in growth.
“In the near term, we have observed some sluggish consumption, which has impacted our top-line growth,” said Gunjan Shah, Managing Director and CEO of Bata India. “However, with the festive season approaching, we anticipate a bounce back in consumer demand.”
Bata India is also focused on expanding its e-commerce operations and strengthening its direct-to-customer sales, along with its partnerships with channel partners. The company is renovating several of its brick-and-mortar stores to better cater to customer preferences, particularly targeting younger consumers in India. Additionally, Bata is upgrading its technology to enhance productivity.
“We see an opportunity to provide value for money while continuing to premiumize our portfolio,” added Shah. “Our focus on premiumization will remain, but we aim to offer consumers a value-for-money proposition. This journey has been ongoing for several years.”
