ASCENA Retail Group Inc. has announced the appointment of David Jaffe as Chairman of the Board at the company’s 2016 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. Jaffe currently serves as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
David succeeded Elliot S. Jaffe, Co-Founder of the company who retired as non-executive chairman of the Board of Directors at the end of the meeting. “David’s extensive retail and financial background, including nearly 25 years of leadership at ASCENA, makes him uniquely qualified to assume the role of Chairman of the Board,” said Randy Pearce, Lead Independent Director, ASCENA.
In another development, Elliot Jaffe has been given the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus in recognition of his many years of service. It may be mentioned Elliot co-founded dressbarn in 1962 and served as CEO until 2002. He was ASCENA’s Chairman of the Board until January 2011, when he transitioned to Non-Executive Chairman.
