The US-based retailer, Macy’s has announced that it will launch its exclusive Backstage store at the Mall of America later this week. The location already houses other American off-price retailers such as Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls.
Notably, the upcoming Backstage is reportedly spread across 11,600 sq. ft. situated on the 3rd floor of Macy’s where bedding and bath accessories used to be, just two floors down from Nordstrom Rack.
Emily Workman, Spokesperson, Macy’s was quoted as saying on the development that much like all of the previous backstage stores, what prompted us to pick Mall of America as the next location was its surroundings, mixed customer bracket, and local buying habits.
It is pertinent to mention here that Macy’s Backstage store stocks exclusive products which are not available at the brand’s other department stores, that gives the Backstage concept its own exclusive buyers.
Furthermore, the new department store will not take away the popular Last Act clearance sections in clothing, accessories, and shoes. The department outlet has its own dressing rooms and cashier station. The bedding and bath department’s size has been reduced and it is shifted closer to the entrance.
On the opening day of the store, gift cards worth US $ 5 to US $ 25 will be available for the first 200 customers.
The upcoming store will be the 139th Backstage store for the American department store chain. The retailer has reportedly claimed to open 100 Backstage stores by the end of this year.
