Adidas has announced a new partnership with artist Fewocious to release a limited edition drop of 4500 pairs of sneakers. However, what makes this collaboration unique is that fans will initially purchase a digital ‘Trefoil Flower Mint Pass’ instead of physical sneakers. The pass will serve as a gateway to redeeming a physical pair of sneakers and an accompanying digital twin at a later date.
According to Adidas, owners of the Trefoil Flower Mint Pass will have the exclusive opportunity to redeem the artist-designed physical Adidas Originals Campus 00s sneaker during the summer. Once the redemption process is complete, the Trefoil Flower Mint Pass will be upgraded to a digital twin of the sneaker. This digital twin will be interoperable and can be utilised as a virtual wearable within upcoming avatar projects called FewoWorld Fewo’s & ALTS by Adidas.
To ensure the authenticity and verification of the digital twin, the minted NFT (Non-Fungible Token) associated with the sneaker will be an ERC721 token linked to the unique identifier of the shoe. This connection can be verified through an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip attached to the hang tag on the physical shoes.
This initiative by Adidas demonstrates the integration of NFT technology and physical sneakers, providing collectors and fans with a unique and immersive experience that combines both the tangible and digital realms.
