Adidas, a prominent sportswear brand, is joining forces with Edison Chen, the founder and creative director of CLOT, a Hong Kong-based streetwear label. This collaboration was revealed during Shanghai Fashion Week in China, showcasing the inaugural collection. Adidas and Chen introduced the ‘Change the Generation’ collection as part of CLOT’s spring/summer 2024 show at the fashion week. In a statement, Adidas highlighted that this partnership will signify “a new era of collaboration that will redefine creative innovation and establish a cultural legacy for the future.” The first pieces from this collection will be available starting January 2024.
Adidas emphasised that Chen’s involvement will infuse Adidas Originals with exclusive collaborative styles, drawing from the sportswear brand’s archive and heritage, while also fostering a cultural exchange between the East and West.
The collection explores three distinctive styles, encompassing “ultra-lifestyle, formal dress, and active/streetwear,” as well as an amalgamation of these diverse lifestyles.
Commenting on this collaboration, Chen expressed, “With Adidas, we’re creating to inspire. I think the ability to freely create something is one of the reasons why I do this. My whole aesthetic, especially in the past few years, has fully transformed.”
Notably, Chen’s collaboration with Adidas Originals coincides with the 20th anniversary of his own brand, CLOT, which he founded in 2003. Under his leadership, CLOT has also branched out into CLOTTEE, a diffusion line inspired by the energy of newer generations, and Juice Store, a fashion and lifestyle store with locations in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Los Angeles.
