In a bid to keep the world moving, adidas has come up with a unique idea to keep the spirit of marathons and other races alive despite the fact that they’re being cancelled or postponed all over the world owing to the circumstances.
Announcing a one-of-its-kind racing event, adidas will host a 5K Virtual Race wherein a user can participate from any corner of the world and compete against other runners across the globe.
The adidas app will also feature every participating runner on the adidas global leader board. Through this, the sportswear maker wants to help thousands of runners and participants experience the transformative power of running.
This initiative will engage a wide community of runners and athletes to everyday consumers who can download the ‘Running App’ and register for the 5K Virtual Race.
What’s more is that the company will support runners’ practice with training plans and advice-based content across its digital channels coming from the athletes and runners in its network.
All a user has to do is download the app, search for 5K Virtual Race, register for it and then move on to customising training plans along with inviting friends to be a part of the challenge.
Nivedita Samanta, Performance Coach at adidas’ Runners Community said, “The ultimate high for runners is that feeling when the body is on the verge of giving up, but the mind is flying high, pulling them through towards the finish line.”
“We practice tirelessly to participate in marathons, but due to the lockdown, we haven’t been able to compete with our fellow runners. adidas’ 5K Virtual Race challenge will give hope to each runner like me who is eagerly waiting to get on the road to running in events, again. I encourage everyone to participate in the adidas 5K Virtual Race, and feel the joy of running,” she added.
