As part of an effort to slow down the manufacture of “new,” Icelandic B Corp outerwear brand 66°North has unveiled a new collection made from deadstock fabric and surplus materials. The line draws inspiration from the inherent Icelandic value of not allowing anything go to waste.
The seven-piece limited-edition “Kría” collection, named after the Arctic Tern that nests on Iceland’s shoreline, includes jumpers, jackets, and pants for festival season wardrobing as well as casual spring wear.
Important accessories include a cross-body bag, a water-resistant bucket hat, two-in-one pants that can be quickly zippers off into shorts, a cropped zip-neck fleece jumper and a fleece vest made from Polartec fleece material.
The Kría Jacket, which debuted in the brand’s SS23 collaborative collection with Ganni, is also included in the capsule. It returns in a cropped design. It is based on the original outdoor performance jacket from 66°North and is composed of Polartec’s NeoShell fabric, which produces an incredibly breathable, wind- and water-resistant jacket.
The whole capsule collection, with the exception of one item, is composed of “deadstock” materials, an oversized, loose T-shirt composed of organic cotton.
Bjarney Harðardóttir, head of brand at 66°North, said in a statement, “Our Kría collection is a great representation of what we stand for at 66°North. Not only are the products highly technical, it’s also fun and playful, bridging the gap between fashion and function.”
