The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has announced the election schedule for its 2025-2027 term. According to the schedule, elections will be held for 35 director positions on 28th May 2025.
This was stated in a press release by BGMEA dated 8th March 2025.
According to the press release, as per the election schedule, members must clear any outstanding dues by 29th March 2025. The last date for submitting voter nominations is 6th April 2025. Candidates for director positions can submit their nomination papers until 24th April, and the last date to withdraw nominations is 6th May 2025.
The BGMEA election is expected to be highly competitive, with several influential groups vying for leadership. The Forum, led by Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, Managing Director of Rising Fashions, officially introduced its panel leader to industry stakeholders at an event in Dhaka on 20th November 2024.
In contrast, the Sammalito Parishad appointed Md Abul Kalam, Managing Director and CEO of Chaity Group, as its panel leader. The announcement was made during an event at a Dhaka City hotel on 28th November 2024.
Currently, BGMEA is under the leadership of BGMEA Administrator Md. Anwar Hossain, who has been overseeing the organisation’s activities and ensuring the election process runs smoothly.
