To ensure the availability of skilled workforce, few of the units in Noida are paying more than the standard minimum wage to their workers. The factories are paying the workers Rs.500 to Rs.1000 extra per month.
These companies are having good orders compared to other companies but are facing a shortage of skilled workforce.
KC Biswas, Manager, HR and Compliance, Dimple Creations told Apparel Resources, “We are paying Rs. 500 extra per month to the workers so that they continuously work with us.”
According to market sources, a few such other factories that are paying higher than minimum wages to the workers are Wear Well, Paramount Products and Richa Global.
It is also pertinent to mention here that once a factory increases the wage of their skilled workers, it never get reduced.
“The factories which are paying higher wages have orders till March, after that it will be decided how to proceed further,” shared a Production Head of the factory who doesn’t wish to be quoted.
He further added though that extra wages add cost to the factory but there is no other way to attract the workers and keep them with the factory.
As of now, minimum wage for skilled workers in Uttar Pradesh is Rs. 12,005 per month.
On the other hand, unskilled or semiskilled workers are getting their regular wages they are easily available.
