Seven factories of Pacific Jeans Group which were closed on 16th October due to “attacks on factories and poor working conditions” are reopening from Thursday, 24th October. Syed Mohammad Tanvir, Managing Director (MD) of Pacific Jeans, gave this information in a press release.
The seven factories being mentioned here are Pacific Jeans, Jeans 2000, NHT Fashion, Pacific Accessories, Universal Jeans, Pacific Workwear and Pacific Attire. Giving employment to 35,000 workers, two factories belong to Pacific Jeans and four units belong to Universal Jeans.
As per the notice, the factory operations were closed indefinitely from 16th October due to the recent unforeseen circumstances. However, as the overall situation is now better and a favourable environment is being observed, it has been decided to reopen the factories from 23rd October.
All officers, employees and workers, as per the notice, are being called upon to attend their respective departments on the date and time mentioned and maintain discipline and professionalism to help in smooth running of production activities.
The group is currently exporting knitwear and workwear in addition to jeans. Jeans pants constitute 91% of the group’s export products and their clothing is exported to 44 countries globally. Uniqlo, the Japanese multinational retailer, is Pacific Jeans’ major customer.
