Leading apparel exporter SCM Garments will have a plant of 2000 machines in Madhya Pradesh (MP). After having a unit in Ethiopia, for the Tirupur-based apparel company, this is the first-ever investment in India out of Tamil Nadu.
Recently the top-level management of the company, including PPK Paramasivam, MD, M. Ashok, CMO met Shivraj Singh Chouhan, CM of MP in Bengaluru.
M. Ashok told Apparel Resources, “As of now, we have not finalised the place but our priority is to get the land closest to the seaport. We are in discussion with our buyers about this project and it may take 2 years to become fully operational.”
He further added that the MP Government and administration are quite supportive and quick to help.
The company, a part of Chennai Silks group,started in 1989 and has a vertically integrated set-up working with many leading brands and retailers across the globe and is mainly into knitted garments having a capacity of around 14 million pieces per month.
