The Open Network for Digital Commerce has partnered with US-based multinational technology conglomerate Meta to boost Indian small business’ sales through messaging platform WhatsApp and offer training programmes.
“Our partnership with Meta will not only digitally upskill these businesses but will also enable them to connect with a customer base far and wide,” said ONDC’s CEO and managing director T Koshy, as per reports.
Through the Meta Small Business Academy, ONDC and Meta aim to upskill five lakh micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in digital skills over the next two years. Business owners will discover how to use WhatsApp’s features and technologies to their advantage by interacting with consumers and establishing trusting bonds with the groups they want to reach.
As part of the partnership, ONDC will assist these vendors of business solutions in acting as seller apps. In order to expand their customer base, ONDC will also include the companies they support to its platform.
“Our partnership with ONDC builds on supporting the government’s vision for Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and furthering our ongoing commitment to skilling small businesses and aiding this digital transformation in the country,” said Meta India’s vice president Sandhya Devanathan.
ONDC has developed a chatbot for WhatsApp named Sahayak to aid in seller-customer communication. Meta will help to enhance this service as part of the partnership.
