
The state-level single window clearance authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, on Friday approved 25 new investment proposals worth Rs. 4,739 crore (US $ 538 million). The projects, spanning 13 focus sectors, are expected to generate more than 25,000 jobs across Odisha.
According to officials, the proposals cover sectors including textiles, steel, chemicals, IT, infrastructure, logistics, renewable energy, tourism, metal downstream, the circular economy, cold storage and capital goods. The projects will be located across districts such as Khurda, Jajpur, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Gajapati.
Textiles emerged as the leading sector, with nine projects worth Rs. 1,684.87 crore (US $ 191 million) set to create 18,450 jobs over the next few years. Colortone Textiles Pvt Ltd and Aditi Lifestyle Pvt Ltd have proposed major facilities in Khurda, with investments of Rs. 700.29 crore (US $ 79.5 million) and Rs. 209.36 crore (US $ 23.76 million), respectively, to establish an integrated textile facility and a knitted fabric and garment unit.
Additional investments will come from Techno Activewear Pvt Ltd, SCM Garments Pvt Ltd, Carloo Tex Pvt Ltd and Wovinova Pvt Ltd, which plan to set up units in Cuttack focused on sportswear, large-scale knitted garments, readymade garments, and non-woven consumables for healthcare, with combined investments exceeding Rs. 367.53 crore (US $ 41.72 million).
Hindalco Industries Ltd will establish two apparel units in Keonjhar and Sambalpur, each requiring an investment of Rs. 100 crore (US $ 11.35 million). Perfect Infra Vision Pvt Ltd has announced plans for a textile and allied products facility in Balangir with an outlay of Rs. 110.7 crore (US $ 12.56 million), while Piu Fashion Pvt Ltd will set up a garments unit in Khurda Industrial Area with an investment of Rs. 96.99 crore (US $ 11.01 million).
Officials said the approvals mark a significant push for Odisha’s textile and apparel sector, which is poised to become a major contributor to employment and industrial growth in the state.
