MycoWorks’ Reishi material launches commercially, surpasses performance benchmarks

The most recent performance data for MycoWorks’ premium flagship mycelium material, Reishi^TM, the first Fine Mycelium^TM material to hit the luxury materials market, has been released. With the introduction of MycoWorks’ first e-commerce website, customers can now directly purchase the company’s high-performance mycelium-made materials for the first time.

MycoWorks has introduced Rei-Tanning^TM technology thanks to a partnership between its Innovation Centre in San Francisco and its Spain tannery specialists in Igualada, a region renowned for its traditional leather tanning skills. Reishi^TM sheets’ performance consistency is improved by the unique recipe, which makes it possible to produce luxury items with complex construction methods like “stitch-and-turn” and edge applications.

In order to obtain desired qualities including fullness and softness, durability, and resistance to water and other factors, Reishi^TM sheets are treated during this nurturing process. Specific re-tanning standards are offered under licence for clients’ facilities to utilise because Reishi^TM is available at scale.

According to recent test results, Reishi^TM is outperforming other luxury leather benchmarks. These results, which were tested on harvests of Reishi^TM cultivated at the company’s commercial-scale factory in South Carolina (the first of its type in the world), confirm that the novel biomaterial can meet or even exceed important quality indices.

In its internal laboratory, MycoWorks’ strategic partner Ligne Roset has also carried out exclusive tests on Reishi^TM, employing exacting standards that go above and beyond the norm for the furniture sector.

A major milestone for MycoWorks has been reached with the launch of the first e-commerce platform for their mycelium biomaterials, which allows for instant online transactions. ‘The Reishi™ Sample Kit’ with material swatches, single Reishi™ sheet purchases (up to five can be ordered per SKU), and larger buys ranging from 15 to 50 sheets of Reishi™ per SKU are among the sample alternatives available on the website.
