The governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, has stated that the commencement of the operations of the US $ 8.73 billion (Rs. 76,000 crore) Vadhvan port and the Navi Mumbai International Airport will give the state’s SMEs a boost to their growth.
This was stated during his remarks at the Maharashtra Industries & SME Summit, which was held in Mumbai by the SME Chamber of India and the Maharashtra Industry Development Association (MIDA).
The Governor emphasised the crucial role that SMEs play in realising the goal of “Viksit Bharat” and praised MIDA’s and the SME Chamber of India’s initiatives to empower startups, manufacturing industries, and SMEs.
The governor made the statement three days after he declared during a joint session of the state legislature that Maharashtra is a top location for foreign direct investment and that the state is among the leading industrial states in the nation, accounting for more than 14 per cent of the national GDP.
He went on to say that the Government has made the decision to build ten integrated industrial parks and integrated logistics parks in order to boost supply chain effectiveness, boost industrial growth, and establish a top-tier business environment.
The State Government has also given its approval for the establishment of the “Maharashtra Technical Textiles Mission” in order to boost and develop the textile industry in the state. In line with the National Technical Textiles project of the Central Government, Maharashtra is the first state in the nation to initiate such a project.
