Mallcom India Ltd. – one of the leading industrial safety equipment manufacturers in India – is coming up with a new state-of-the-art PPE manufacturing facility in Ghatakpukur, West Bengal.
Sharing the details of the expansion with team Apparel Resources, Ajay Mall, Managing Director, Mallcom India Ltd., commented, “The unit is for protective wear, wherein we’ll make all kind of products that fall under workplace safety. The first phase of industrial garments’ capacity expansion will become operational by Q2 2022-23.”
With the projected capital outlay estimated at Rs. 50 crore in the upcoming facility, Mallcom is eyeing to double its production capacity in the next two years. The manufacturing facility, once operational, will generate direct employment for over 600 people from West Bengal.
“Apart from direct employment, we’ll also migrate some of the skilled workers from our existing facility in the new unit so as to make sure we do not face any hiccups during initial run…,” mentioned Ajay.
Along with Ghatakpukur, Mallcom recently inaugurated its workwear manufacturing unit in GIDC, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and the same commenced operations since August 2021. The unit will generate employment to over 200 people when in full capacity.
It’s worth noting here that the company already has manufacturing units in Kolkata, Haridwar and Ahmedabad, wherein it produces PPE – both industrial safety gear such as gloves, helmet, workwear, shoes as well as medical gear such as masks and disposable protective covers.
“To make these products, we use high-end technical fabrics and trims that have properties such as FR, anti-static, chemical resistant and high-visibility – depending on the customers’ needs and the final usage of these garments in the workplace,” concluded Ajay.
Mallcom has clocked a consolidated revenue of Rs. 262 crore in 9-month period of FY 2022 (April-December), compared with Rs. 218 crores in entire FY 2021, clocking a growth of 20 per cent with 3 months remain! Of this value, the exports contributed around two-thirds of the business. With the planned expansion, Mallcom now eyes to go past Rs. 500 crore over the next couple of years.
