Sweden-based global furniture retailer IKEA will hire at least 350 women from Telangana for its store. This was announced by Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Jupally Krishna Rao. The store will be launched in February 2018.
According to Rao, a 45 days training session will be conducted for selected women at National Academy of Construction (NAC) in Hyderabad.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed between NAC, Employment Generation and Marketing Mission and United Nations Development Programme in this regard.
The training imparted to these women would help them improve their soft skills.
A company official previously said IKEA will hire 800 people for the store.
IKEA received the Indian Government’ approval in 2013 to make an investment of Rs. 10,500 crores to open 25 hyper stores in the country.
The first store will come up in Hyderabad early next year. Mumbai and Bengaluru will also house IKEA stores soon.
IKEA currently runs around 400 stores in 48 countries across the globe. Its total workforce stands at 1,72,000.
The company is aggressively expanding to mark its presence in every corner of the world, be it India, Malaysia or Slovenia.
