HUGO BOSS, a leading German luxury fashion house, has declared to take decisive action against COVID-19 by dedicating its clothing production site to the manufacturing of face masks.
The production site is located at HUGO BOSS’s global headquarters in Metzingen, Germany and it will produce around 180,000 masks in the coming weeks.
The decision has come at a time when Coronavirus pandemic has certainly become a disrupter in the industries across the world and, amidst this, HUGO BOSS is dedicating its knowledge and capability to face mask manufacturing to help the front liners.
According to the brand, face masks are crafted in a cotton-blend material that can be washed and reused at least 50 times. However, the masks are not suitable for clinical use.
The masks will further be donated to public facilities such as nursing homes, fire departments, and police personnel.
Markedly, HUGO BOSS has not only made changes in its production facilities but its conference rooms have also been amended. The rooms are furnished with sewing machines and all other necessary equipment to repurpose them as workshops.
‘We would like to thank our partners and all teams involved – especially the team in the production facilities,” stated the brand.
Besides, the license partner of HUGO BOSS for fragrances, Coty, will manufacture hand sanitisers to additionally combat shortages due to Coronavirus.
It’s great to see that the fashion industry and its stakeholders stand united in these challenging times and are extending support to front liners to fight against this pandemic.
