Hela Clothing – a leading Sri Lankan apparel manufacturer – has been recognised as the ‘Best Exporter’ for apparel in the medium category, at the Presidential Export Awards 2021 in Sri Lanka.
While accepting the award, A.R. Rasiah, Chairman, Hela Clothing, commented, “It is a great honour to have been recognised at the national level for our efforts to drive Sri Lanka as a preferred destination for apparel manufacturing. Early on in our story, we embarked on a journey to become more than a simple cut-and-sew manufacturer and evolve into an end-to-end supply chain solutions provider to our global portfolio of customers. Today, we are seeing those efforts bear fruit.”
The ceremony, which was held at the BMICH, was organised by the Export Development Board and is considered one of the most prestigious national-level awards for exporters in Sri Lanka.
Winners are required to meet the most stringent and rigorous standards for excellence in the export sector with proven documentation of those achievements. This year’s awards programme considered the performance of export industries during the financial years 2019/2020 and 2020/2021.
According to a recent LinkedIn post of Hela Clothing, the award signifies the continued progress of the company both globally and locally, as it strives to excel as an ethical, sustainably responsible brand.
It’s worth noting here that Hela Clothing recently became the first Sri Lankan manufacturer to foray in Egypt – a North-East African country.
Apart from having 7 factories in Sri Lanka, Hela is already operational in Kenya and Ethiopia – two African countries with large apparel manufacturing base – for over 5 years now and has seen remarkable growth in its business operations.
