The apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has sought cooperation from Germany for the development of the country’s (Bangladesh) apparel sector, especially in the realms of skill development and environmental sustainability.
As per reports, Faruque Hassan, the President of the trade body made a call to this end during his recent meeting with German Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Bärbel Kofler.
During the discussion attended by the members of German parliament and senior German Government officials, the BGMEA chair reportedly underscored the need for intensifying cooperation and collaboration between the two countries to unlock trade and investment potential even as he also urged the European nation to take more garment products from Bangladesh.
