More brands and retailers are collaborating regarding common verified data rather than having their own specific audits. This step will increase the ease for the entire supply chain and save resources as individual audit by every brand and retailer is a big issue in apparel industry.
34 brands and retailers will follow Social & Labour Convergence Program (SLCP)-verified data and will not conduct their own proprietary audits.
SLCP, a multi-stakeholder initiative made up of over 200 signatories, has revealed a growing list of leading brands, retailers and organisations.
SLCP signatories collectively developed the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) to replace the multitude of repetitive and duplicative social & labour audits with one single, high-quality tool.
So far, over 1,000 facilities across the globe have completed an SLCP-verified assessment.
The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), which includes more than 250 members, is also included in the list of organisations that accept SLCP, having fully integrated the CAF as the backbone of their Facility Social & Labour Tool (Higg FSLM).
Global retailers and brands like PVH Corp., New Balance, etc., and leading global exporters like Shahi Exports and Youngone Corporation have also appreciated this development.
Marissa Pagnani McGowan, Senior VP of Corporate Responsibility at PVH Corp., said “SLCP provides a robust and standardised approach to measuring and improving social and labour metrics across the apparel sector. The adoption of this collaborative and consistent industry-wide tool frees up valuable time and resources for our suppliers, enabling us to work more productively together to scale positive impacts across the supply chain.”
“The increasing list of brands adopting SLCP in place of traditional audits empowers suppliers to reduce audit fatigue, streamline compliance processes and use resources towards worker wellbeing. We strongly support brands and suppliers adopting SLCP to drive convergence within the industry globally,” says Srinivasa Rao Venkatesh, Chief Compliance Officer, Shahi Exports.
