
According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Hong Kong has surpassed other major investors like Japan, Singapore and Taiwan to become the second largest investor in the country. Companies from Hong Kong assured over US $ 3 billion for 99 new and 23 operational projects in Vietnam in 2014, with huge investments in the textile-dyeing sector. Huafu has planned an investment of US $ 136 million for a project in southern Long An province’s Thuan Dao Industrial Park for dyeing 20,000 tonnes of cotton and production of 30,000 tonnes of yarn a year, while Nam Phuong Textile Company has commenced construction of a US $ 120 million textile project at Viet Huong 2 Industrial Park in Southern Vietnam’s Binh Duong province.
