Lean initiatives adopted with the help of FastReact
Bangalore-based Birdy Exports with production capacity of 10 lakh pieces per year and in-house sampling unit has recently adopted FastReact systems to improve efficiencies. The company which employs over 1200 employees to produce both knits and woven products like jackets, shirts, pants and dresses for men, women, children and babies for European buyers like CWF, Petit Bateau, Aigle & TBS, is committed to closely monitor planning and quality to service the buyer on all requirements of product and delivery.
LEAN manufacturing was recently initiated at Birdy and the management expects FastReact to help them quickly in achieving many of their LEAN goals including pull system ordering of the materials based on the PCD (plan cut date), and reducing the WIP levels between various operations. It is also putting its maximum efforts to manufacture eco-friendly products, which meet the requirements of eco-sustainability and have lowest possible adverse effect on the environment.
“So many businesses undergo heavy fire fighting yet still incur excess costs like overtime/air shipments because they struggle to control the process with manual planning methods, email and long working hours. The benefits that Birdy Exports have achieved are very significant and we hope that other companies will also be encouraged to embrace the FastReact way of planning and get the control and visibility that can make all the difference to business profitability and sustainable working practices,” concludes P. Ramesh, India Country Manager FastReact.
