Rimjim Deka is the Founder and CEO of Littlebox, a home-grown, fashion-forward brand built for young Indian women. She began her entrepreneurial journey in fashion in 2012 and went on to co-found and scale Street Style Store before exiting the business in 2022. She then founded Littlebox in Guwahati with the belief that Indian consumers should be able to access global trends quickly and affordably, in fits designed for them. Today, Littlebox operates through its own website and app, supported by an in-house, data-led design and manufacturing ecosystem.
Daily Routine
No two days are exactly the same, but I usually begin by reviewing the most important numbers: what customers are browsing, buying, returning and responding to. I also make time for exercise, reading and quiet thinking, because a founder needs enough mental space to make clear decisions rather than only reacting to the day.
Define Success
Success, to me, is building something meaningful without losing yourself in the process. Business scale and financial performance matter because they create durability and opportunity, but they are not the complete definition. Success also means earning the customer’s trust, creating livelihoods, helping people around you grow and retaining the courage to make independent choices. Personally, it means being able to look back and know that I built with integrity, continued learning and remained present for the people I love.
Advice to Young Professionals
Do not wait to feel completely ready. Begin, learn quickly and allow real work to sharpen your direction. Stay close to the customer or the person your work is meant to serve, because proximity to real problems is more valuable than assumptions. Build strong fundamentals, communicate clearly and become dependable before chasing titles.
Thoughts on Work Life Balance
I do not experience work-life balance as a perfect daily split. Entrepreneurship has seasons: some periods demand intense attention, while others allow more space for family, health and reflection. I am also fortunate to be building Littlebox alongside my husband, Partha. We spend a great deal of time together at work and beyond it, so our shared journey itself gives me a meaningful sense of balance.
Life Mantra
Stay close to the customer, move with courage and keep your ego out of learning. Trends, markets and plans will change, but curiosity, resilience and the willingness to improve remain useful in every season of life
