Sunder Balasubramanian, Chief Marketing Officer at fashion e-commerce platform Myntra, has confirmed his exit from the company after close to four years.
Balasubramanian shared the development on LinkedIn, saying that this week marks his last at Myntra. He joined the company as CMO in November 2022, after serving as Head of International Marketing at South Korean e-commerce company Coupang.
During his nearly four-year tenure at Myntra, Balasubramanian led the company’s marketing function and was closely associated with its consumer-focused campaigns, Gen Z strategy and fashion-led brand initiatives. His tenure included the development of FWD, Myntra’s dedicated proposition for younger consumers, which was launched in 2023.
FWD was designed around trend-led fashion, immersive discovery, community-driven recommendations and content formats aimed at Gen Z consumers.Balasubramanian said Myntra had increased its Gen Z shopper base from eight million to 16 million in 2024 and was looking to add another 20–25 million in the following years.
Balasubramanian was also involved in Myntra’s major brand and sale campaigns, including the End of Reason Sale (EORS). He described EORS as an opportunity to bring together entertainment and fashion, with campaigns featuring Bollywood personalities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Kiara Advani and Karan Johar.
More recently, he continued to lead Myntra’s marketing efforts across EORS, FWD and the wider fashion ecosystem. His role also covered collaboration with the company’s marketing, customer, creative and communications teams.
Reflecting on his tenure, Balasubramanian said he was proud of “what we built together”, including the problems the team chose to tackle, the culture of ownership it nurtured and its drive to push further each year.
He also thanked Myntra’s leadership team and the wider marketing, customer, creative and communications teams for their contribution to the journey. In his farewell post, he acknowledged the larger Myntra SPIRIT team.
“Will always be cheering for Team Myntra. Never forget to WearYourselfFearlessly,” he wrote.
Balasubramanian did not disclose his next move, “I’m excited for what’s next, but that’s a story for later.”he added.
He brings more than two decades of experience across e-commerce, media, FMCG and advertising.
