Government officials and industry stakeholders convened a stakeholder consultation meeting in New Delhi to explore partnership opportunities for the development of the Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks, a flagship initiative aimed at transforming India’s textile manufacturing landscape. The event was jointly organised by the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) and the Ministry of Textiles under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) framework.
The consultation focused on discussions with prospective master developers for three proposed Greenfield PM MITRA Parks in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Kalaburagi (Karnataka) and Navsari (Gujarat), each spanning more than 1,000 acres and featuring strong multimodal connectivity to major transport nodes.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, Neelam Shami Rao, reiterated the importance of stakeholder engagement in shaping a collaborative framework for successful implementation of the parks. She encouraged active involvement from industry and development partners throughout the process.
The Ministry’s Additional Secretary, Rohit Kansal, underscored the transformational potential of the PM MITRA initiative, noting that detailed project reports amounting to approximately Rs. 5,567 crore (US $ ) have already been finalised for the three states involved. He highlighted the strategic intent to develop large-scale, integrated textile manufacturing ecosystems that can enhance competitiveness and drive economic growth.
NICDC’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Rajat Kumar Saini, outlined the government’s vision to deliver globally competitive infrastructure, including plug-and-play industrial facilities, testing laboratories, single-window regulatory clearances, integrated logistics and reliable power supply. He emphasised that the parks are designed to support end-to-end value chain integration and attract significant investor interest.
The consultation saw participation from a broad array of domestic and international developers and sector stakeholders, who engaged in detailed discussions on utilities planning, modular plot development and ecosystem support for both micro, small and medium enterprises and larger anchor units. The session yielded constructive feedback intended to refine the implementation framework and advance project delivery.
