
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a Rs. 37 crore (US $4.44 million) bag manufacturing unit, Cosmos Lifestyle Pvt. Ltd., in the Bela Industrial Area in Muzaffarpur, under the Bihar Textiles and Leather Policy 2022. The unit is spread over 5 acres and aims to boost development of the industry and upgrade employment opportunities in the region.
During his visit to the unit, the CM talked to the staff and saw the activities involved in the manufacturing of bags, such as cutting and stitching. He told the workers that their work is important and blessed them with commitment. He also appreciated the role of the State Government in promoting industry in Bihar. “In Bihar, we are developing industrial investment as a route to job creation and becoming self-dependent through improving economic conditions through investment,” he said.
The company makes high-quality and low-cost bags and accessories and has created jobs for around 1200 people, with the majority of its workforce, around 40%, of workers being women.
The opening was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, State Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh, and State Panchayati Raj Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta.
