The Bangladeshi knitting yarn market has maintained a stable status this month, February with export prices for cotton yarn from major suppliers like India, Pakistan, and China showing no significant changes. Although minor fluctuations in specific yarn qualities are noted, the overall market remains steady.
Local yarn manufacturers, however, are grappling with several challenges. High production costs, ongoing gas shortages, and reduced government incentives have contributed to a decline in orders, putting pressure on domestic producers. Additionally, they are facing increased competition from foreign suppliers, further complicating their market position.
Concerns have also been raised regarding the influx of yarn imports from India via land ports. Reports indicate discrepancies in import documentation, allowing more yarn to enter the country than what is officially declared. Authorities are being urged to implement stricter regulations or consider a ban on such imports to safeguard local manufacturers.
