SCALE Advanced Biocomposites, a leading firm in bio-based composite reinforcements, has unveiled its BIO|Power™ and COR|Power™ product ranges at the JEC World event in Paris. This is a global trade show for composite materials and their applications. Composite materials are crafted to either substitute or enhance carbon fibre in lightweight composites. In the textile industry they enable easier and automated manufacturing of complex component shapes.
By harnessing the inherent advantages of natural fibres and bio-based materials such as their low density and damping properties, SCALE empowers composite manufacturers to leverage the transition to sustainable materials for heightened performance levels, all while curbing material expenses.
The BIO|Power yarns mix various natural fibres to offer a diverse spectrum of performance and cost attributes for sustainable composites. The inaugural BIO|Power EX blend is anticipated to slash fibre costs by up to 40 per cent and diminish greenhouse emissions by 95 per cent compared to carbon fibre.
On the other hand, COR|Power serves as a damping filament that aids in mitigating vibrations and harshness in carbon fibre composites by a substantial 30 per cent when integrated at a 10 per cent weight ratio.
Noteworthy testimonials from industry leaders such as Martin Meir from REAP Design in the UK and Enrique Romero Pineda from 3T Cycling further accentuate the positive impact of collaborating with SCALE in advancing sustainability and enhancing performance.
