Marimekko, a Finnish fashion and textile company will present its SS24 collection on August 9 at Copenhagen Fashion Week in Design Museum to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its signature Unikko print designed by Maija Isola.
In the spirit of celebration, Marimekko has also announced the opening of a new flagship outlet in Copenhagen, Denmark. Following the 30 years of tradition of public inclusive fashion shows in the home city, Helsinki, Marimekko will extend the concept of open-for-all for the first time in Copenhagen.
Rebekka Bay, creative director at Marimekko stated, “The year 2024 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Unikko print by Maija Isola. Unikko is not only Marimekko’s most celebrated print but one of the most recognised print designs in the world. Unikko is a symbol of joy and creativity and over the years it has become synonymous with Marimekko’s design language.”
She further added, “Organising the fashion show in an open-for-all format and having the collection presented by members of our community truly emphasizes our mission to bring joy to the everyday lives of people.”
