The first-ever fashion show in Egypt will take place in May, according to the country’s Fashion and Design Council. Egypt will host its inaugural edition from 12th May to 15th May 2023, joining other nations that have hosted fashion shows.
The Ministry of Commerce, Economic Development, and the Ministry of Agriculture revealed their plans for the occasion at a news conference in the nation’s capital, Cairo. The fashion show’s theme will be ‘Past, Present, and Future.’ It will highlight the nation’s historical past, present, and future outlook.
At the event, well-known Egyptian fashion designers will display their creations. Many global companies have already drawn inspiration from Egyptian culture and history. Their long history, distinctive architecture, and creative expressions have served as models for designs all around the world.
The founders of Egypt’s Fashion and Design Council explained the theme as “The past because, of course, our designers should be inspired by our culture, by our heritage. (They can) use all the materials we have that have been used for thousands of years. The present, because we do live in the present and we are very much aware of what is going on in the world and the future because we know where everything is going, where we should be in a few years”.
On May 12, a gala dinner and opening ceremony will kick off the event at the Egyptian Museum. The exhibition will then continue at the Museum of Agriculture with runway presentations by fashion, jewellery, and accessory designers.
