
Almost all of the world’s largest cotton suppliers like the US, Brazil, Canada and Africa hit by droughts, cotton production and supply is all set to get hit and that does not augur well for Bangladesh, the second largest apparel exporter globally after China and major producer of cotton-based apparels.
Speaking to media, in the meanwhile, Additional Director and CEO (in-charge) of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) Monsoor Ahmed, reportedly, claimed if cotton production was reduced due to drought in the US and Brazil, Bangladesh will face adverse consequences.
It may be mentioned here USA is the largest exporter of cotton with 33 per cent share, followed by Brazil (17 per cent) and India (9 per cent).
