
The Labour Ministry recently reformed the 12-member working committee through a gazette notification, which will prepare initial proposals on amendments to the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 by September.
As per reports, the Ministry has asked the working committee to prepare draft amendments to labour laws and submit those to the amendment committee by 30 September even if a total of six Government officials, three representatives from trade unions and from the owners’ associations, have been included in the committee.
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh Government has promised the global stakeholders, including the International Labour Organisation and the European Union, to amend the labour act in line with the ILO conventions by March 2023.
