UK-based fashion retailer John Lewis has signed a 3-year deal with the logistics pioneer Clipper in its efforts to expand its e-commerce operations.
The deal follows the retailer’s recent acquisition of a new logistic centre.
What’s, however, noteworthy is that the partnership with Clipper is expected to generate over 200 jobs.
Clipper Logistics was initially brought in to assist the British retailer to manage the growing surge in online orders and returns, but it will now also offer e-commerce and store replenishment services.
Also, as per the 3-year deal, the retailer can utilise logistic giant’s new 317,000 square feet warehouse space in Bardon (near Leicester).
Just last week, John Lewis had signed an agreement with Tesco to lease 1 million square feet warehouse in the town of Milton Keynes – consequently creating 500 new jobs in the English town of Milton Keynes.
The acquisition of warehouse, followed by the deal, yet again shows growing surge in online orders for the retailer.
