Carlos Crespo, the current COO of Zara owner Inditex, could very well become the new CEO of the Spanish fashion firm.
The appointment committee at Inditex has decided to submit a proposal by its executive chairman Pablo Isla to its board of directors wherein Isla has proposed the name of Carlos Crespo as the new group CEO.
Once approved, Crespo will be immediately appointed as CEO. The shareholders of Inditex will also be asked to re-elect Isla as the executive chairman at the Annual General Meeting scheduled to be held in July.
While applauding its people for commitment and hard work, Isla said that Crespo’s excellent performance in various areas of the company as a COO makes him the deserving candidate for CEO.
He added that Crespo’s contribution will be significant especially with Inditex’s continual focus on strategic digital transformation and far-reaching commitment to sustainability.
Carlos Crespo, in his new role, will report to Isla and will be accountable for Technology (Systems, Data & Digital), IT Security, Logistics and Transportation, Construction&Works, Legal, Procurement and Sustainability. He also expressed gratitude for getting this opportunity and said that there could be no better time than now to take up this new role.
