OnPoint Manufacturing Inc. (OPM), the leader in on-demand apparel manufacturing, has announced that it is donating a number of Singer sewing machines to Central High School of Florence, Alabama. This step is being taken in order to provide students with an opportunity to advance in the modern sewing era.
In a special arrangement with Singer Sewing Machines, OPM has developed an initiative to foster early sewing programs that give young designers and seamstresses the necessary assistance and tools they need to jump start their careers.

Rachel McFall, Consumer Science Teacher, Central High School, commented, “This donation will be a tremendous addition to my classroom. Currently, I am teaching students to sew with four different machine models. This takes valuable time to explain. Using older, worn machines is troublesome with numerous problems.”
Furthermore, the donated machines are all the same model and will allow school to teach one lesson, perform one demonstration, and troubleshoot in a much more efficient way. This will allow for ease of use and increase productivity, says Rachel.
Explaining how the donation move was determined, J. Kirby Best, Chairman of OnPoint Manufacturing, stated, “When we approached Adam Himber at the Shoals Economic Development Authority (an industrial development agency in USA) about the possibility of a donation, he immediately thought of the great work that Rachel McFall was doing with their Family and Consumer Science program at Central High School.”
