
The Madhya Pradesh Government is mulling a policy to develop the state as a textile hub which stands fourth in the country in the production of cotton and textile. The Government will focus on land bank to set up textile industry and development of basic infrastructure in the state including electricity supply. This was announced by the Minister for Commerce and Industry, Employment and Mineral Resources, Rajendra Shukla, at the two-day 72nd All-India Textile Conference, held in Bhopal. The event was attended by more than 300 representatives from various textile industries.
“A special policy is being framed to develop the state as a textile hub which has already developed 100-acre land bank in various districts where basic facilities and infrastructure will come up soon,” said Rajendra Shukla who also inaugurated an exhibition focusing on textile industry.

A total of Rs. 7,000 crore had been invested in the textile sector and 40,000 persons have been given employment in past six years in the state. Textile projects worth Rs. 4,000 would be established in the state soon, informed the Minister.
