US-based discount retailer Target Corporation has announced its appointment of two key positions for the company’s tech team, including Tom Kadlec as the Senior Vice-President of infrastructure and operations to lead modernisation initiatives of the company. The other key appointment is that of Joel Crabb as the VP of architecture, who will be responsible for enterprise architecture, agile practices and Application Program Interfaces (APIs).
“Tom and Joel bring decades of technology and engineering experience to Target, along with proven track records of building and implementing cutting-edge technologies for retailers. Adding leaders of this caliber will propel the progress we’re making to strengthen Target’s engineering muscle, enhance our foundational systems and bring new technology innovations to life for our guests,” said Mike McNamara, Chief Information Officer, Target.
Tom Kadlec, who has nearly 25 years of global technology experience in both retail and finance sectors, including 17 years in leadership positions at UK-based grocer Tesco PLC, has worked in the Czech Republic and Hungary for Tesco and led the retailer’s operations and infrastructure team through major transformations and doing away with many legacy applications. Kadlec was last associated with a cloud technologies implementation consultancy Virtual Clarity, where he worked on transformation of a major UK bank.
Joel Crabb, meanwhile, has more than 20 years’ experience as a technology leader and engineer. He joined Target from Best Buy Co, with which he has had more than five years’ association — most recently as chief architect and head of digital engineering. Before that, he held several technology leadership and engineering posts in several companies in Minneapolis.
