Carvico and Jersey Lomellina – the Italian manufacturers of high-end knitted fabrics for applications in swimwear, sportswear, underwear and outerwear – will now be liaising with the Healthy Seas Initiative. The alliance will enable Carvico and Jersey Lomellina to use the fishing nets recovered by the Healthy Seas Initiative upcycled to 100 per cent regenerated Econyl yarn. Broadly, the manufacturing by-product waste and end of life nylon materials – including abandoned fishing nets and old carpets are processed to produce the Econyl Nylon 6 fibre useful for the production of new carpets and textiles, sportswear and swimwear.
Nylon 6 will continue to be regenerated again from the scrap and be brought back to its original form without compromising on quality thus enabling Healthy Seas to repeat this procedure indefinitely without compromising on quality.
