Indian premium activewear brand ‘Tego’ has introduced its ‘Tego Drill’ socks range that is made from highly-advanced materials and avant-garde design technologies to deliver high performance and comfort to the wearer.
Contoured construction for superior fit and cushioning, cushioned ‘Y-Heel’ to provide support to over-tight arch, cushioned seamless toe to reduce bulkiness and right/left anatomical fit are some of the key features of this socks range that has been anatomically designed to help one’s feet push through the toughest of drills.
Also, while the ‘zoned mesh’ construction improves breathability and allows faster drying, the OEKO-TEX-certified antimicrobial technology helps in odour control. Moreover, all Tego drill socks are manufactured using technical yarns and high needle count machines to ensure durability, softness and lightness.
Catering to men as well as women, the range is available in EU and US sizes – S, M and L. And It comes in three variants, including Cotton Comfort (cotton socks with additional cushioning); All Day Performance (low-volume socks made using CoolMax yarn that provide the comfort of cotton and the performance of synthetic yarns); and Ultra Light (a low volume sock for a true/minimalistic feel, perfect for running).
In an exclusive tête-a-tête with Apparel Resources, Tego Co-Founder Krishna Chandak, who has co-created the brand along with Ashish Naik, maintained that backed by research and technical yarns developed at the world’s most advanced manufacturing facilities – the drill socks resonate the brand’s ethos.
Markedly, Mumbai-based Tego’s varied category offerings comprise Stance Yoga Mat, Sweat-charged T-shirts, Fit Towels, and Socks.
Markedly, Tego was conceptualised to cater to the need for a high-performance premium athletic gear which wasn’t available in the Indian market. “Our products are created with a unique blend of performance materials, emerging technologies and purpose-driven design elements,” Chandak underlined.
Shedding light on the brand’s business model, he told us, “We are asset-light and have multi-country sourcing, and we work on licensing various unique technologies for the region. Our manufacturing and technology partners are based out of India, Turkey, Taiwan, and the USA.”
Vis-à-vis the brand’s growth journey, the Tego Co-Founder apprised that they started off in April 2016 through multi-brand sports door at Planet Sports (Future Group) and SportXS, when they only had the Tegofit Sports towel and the Tego Sweat-Charged T-shirt. “This gave us a presence in about 40 premium mall locations across India,” he told.
In 2017, the company began adding distributors for South, North (ex Delhi), East and North-East regions. “This has given us placement in 80 top sports doors across India. We also have a presence in multi-brand retail chains like Total Sports and Sports Station among others,” Chandak averred.
Apart from the offline presence, the brand is also available on Amazon.in and Myntra.com and is working towards ramping up its nationwide footprint across channels.
What’s more, Tego has also started to spread its wings in the foreign markets, as Chandak shared with us, “We have executed some export orders for Tego in GCC countries, Malaysia and Israel. We also sell on Amazon USA.”
