According to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, a new software positioned as a Twitter competitor, more than 10 million individuals signed up in the first few hours. The Facebook and Instagram owners Meta launched Threads at midnight on Thursday in the UK.
Due to regulatory concerns, the site has not yet been made available in the EU. The platform’s launch was accelerated by 15 hours and made freely accessible in 100 countries.
It is connected to Instagram and lets users upload photographs, videos, links, and texts up to 500 characters long.
Asos, Pretty Little Thing, JD Sports, and Footasylum are just a few of the fashion companies that have already joined and announced their presence on the app.
Using the ‘mind blown’ emoji, Zuckerberg posted on the new app with the message: ’10 million sign up in seven hours.’
The two billion+ user Instagram is directly connected to the platform. Threads, according to Zuckerberg, would be a healthier alternative to Twitter.
