International Trade Centre (ITC) and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences have collaboratively developed an online tool to explore e-commerce marketplace ecosystem in Africa.
The launch was made during the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD’s) virtually held e-commerce week.
The tool offers data and analysis on local African e-commerce marketplace to increase availability of information on the enterprise. Named as African Marketplace explorer, the tool aims to provide Africa-wide analysis of Business to Consumer (B2C) marketplace.
More than 630 e-commerce websites are analysed based on detailed characteristics. It gives users the facility to explore marketplace trends, the uptake of marketplaces across 58 countries and country-by-country benchmarking.
Moreover, the data can be filtered and downloaded and can be viewed over graphs and maps for deeper insights.
As the e-commerce retailing has seen a surge, it is expected that the sector might boost the economical growth on the continent.
