Flipkart has appointed Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce, to lead efforts in pinpointing and implementing high-impact business use cases for AI across the company.
He will collaborate closely with CPTO Balaji Thiagarajan, who remains responsible for setting the strategic direction of the One Tech organisation and leading the technology strategy and engineering initiatives for an AI-native Flipkart.
The development comes amid a broader push by new-age companies, particularly in the e-commerce sector, to embed artificial intelligence into everyday operations in a bid to streamline processes and boost productivity. For Flipkart, enhancing operational efficiency has taken on added urgency as the company gears up for a potential stock market listing later this year.
“The company is entering a phase where AI is no longer experimental but central to how it builds products, serves customers and drives internal efficiency. As I have been emphasizing, the landscape of our industry is evolving rapidly. To lead in the next decade, we need to build on AI,” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive.
