Cartken, a prominent player in autonomous technology, has partnered with DPD, a leading parcel delivery company, to introduce autonomous delivery services in two Milton Keynes neighbourhoods. Each DPD-branded robot autonomously delivers up to 30 parcels per day.
With their level 4 autonomy and exceptional navigation capabilities, Cartken’s robots have gained recognition as one of the safest last mile delivery solutions available, currently being utilised by Mitsubishi Electric in Japan and Grubhub in the United States for their delivery operations.
To ensure a seamless experience for DPD’s parcel recipients, customers will receive advance notification when a robot delivery is scheduled. Once the customer confirms their presence at home to accept the parcel, the robot will be dispatched. Customers will have the ability to track the robot’s progress on a map and will be alerted when it arrives at their property. Utilising a secure compartment, customers can access their parcels using a provided code. Once the compartment is closed, the robot will return to the depot to prepare for its next delivery.
DPD UK CEO, Elaine Kerr, expressed her enthusiasm for this collaboration, stating, “Cartken’s robots are an incredible addition to our delivery services. We see these robots as an extension of our delivery team, helping us reduce our carbon footprint and offering sustainable delivery solutions to meet the demands of a growing market. At DPD, we have always been pioneers in innovation and investment in our network, and this partnership with Cartken is a significant step in advancing our delivery solutions and striving to become the UK’s most sustainable delivery company.”
Anjali Jindal Naik, Co-Founder and COO of Cartken, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with DPD for parcel delivery in the UK market. Our robots are designed to offer sustainable solutions that seamlessly integrate into existing city infrastructure, and we are proud to contribute to DPD’s sustainability plan as they adopt environmentally conscious solutions through the use of our delivery robots.”
