Inditex’s Bershka, known for its youthful appeal, is embarking on a strategy to curtail return rates through collaboration with 3DLook, a Californian AI-driven specialist in mobile body scanning and virtual try-on solutions.
Bershka intends to capitalise on 3DLook’s virtual fitting room, YourFit, to offer precise size recommendations and an immersive virtual try-on encounter directly on its website. This alliance seeks to decrease return rates, enhance sales conversion, and simplify the online shopping experience by eradicating the uncertainty surrounding sizes faced by digital shoppers. Additionally, it aims to deliver interactive shopping interactions tailored to tech-savvy young consumers.
This collaboration empowers shoppers to select an item and access a ‘See how it fits me’ widget powered by AI technology. Through a voice-guided real-time process, customers can swiftly undergo a camera-based flow. By capturing front and side photos, the solution’s advanced 3D mapping technology and size recommendation system instantly provide feedback on the most suitable size while delivering a highly realistic virtual try-on experience.
Bershka’s e-commerce division emphasised the importance of optimising the customer journey by eliminating the inconvenience of returning ill-fitting items, aligning with the desires of today’s interactive youth-oriented shoppers.
Whitney Cathcart, 3DLook’s Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed confidence in the company’s virtual fitting room technology, foreseeing its potential to transform the online shopping landscape. Additionally, she highlighted its role in fostering a more eco-conscious and efficient fashion industry by mitigating size-related returns and resonating with a digitally inclined younger audience.
