The e-commerce giant Amazon has developed an “Outfit Compare” feature – which will tell prime members what to wear – and is available on the newest version of the Amazon shopping app. The feature now effectively adds one more accomplishment to the online retailer’s ever-growing list of offerings.
Amazon responded that Outfit Compare is an Amazon Prime feature that’s part of the company’s efforts in “making the membership service something that becomes part of our members’ daily life”.

Explaining the feature, Amazon stated that Outfit Compare prompts shoppers to share two photos of themselves wearing two different outfits they are deciding between. A minute later, they will get a response from an Amazon stylist who will tell them which outfit looks better on them. This determination will be made based on a number of factors including how the clothes fit, what colours look best on the wearer, how they are styled, and what’s on trend.
The FAQ section notes that photos “may be viewed only by qualified Amazon staff,” as well as it cites the fashion specialists come from a variety of fashion-related backgrounds. In the latest version of the Amazon shopping app, Prime members will find “Outfit Compare” in the sidebar navigation under the “Programs and Features” section.
The feature first appeared on Amazon’s iPhone app earlier this month with a version for Android currently in the progress. Amazon’s long-term plan for the feature — whether it’s a quick and quirky method to advertise for Amazon Prime or a small part of something larger — has yet to be clarified.
