From the invention of the first CNC automatic cutting device in China to the largest production base for cutting equipment in the world, Yin Science & Technology Co. Ltd. is fast emerging as a leader in global automatic cutting solutions. Established in 2006, Yin actively promotes the integration of industrialization and informatisation, technological innovation of electromechanical equipment and popularization of automatic cutting technology, and has a production line integrating CNC cutting machines, intelligent spreading machines, CAD software, leather cutting machines, garment hanger systems and three-dimensional anthropological measuring systems. In an exclusive interaction with Team StitchWorld at the recently concluded JIAM fair, Yin Zhiyong, President, Yin Science & Technology highlighted the company’s strategy to be a global cutting room solution provider.
SW – The world market is not doing well at this moment, what is your strategy to keep sales moving?
YZ – Many countries are experiencing an economic turmoil including China and India, but for us the sales were good this year and have increased by 34% as compared to the previous year. The main reason behind this is the fact that our international market share has now increased to 40% from 20% last year. The growth shows that our product is now more recognized in the overseas market and also we are offering better products at reasonable prices. Apart from this with the unique technology we are also offering good services to our clients to ensure maximum client satisfaction.
The growing acceptance of our product internationally can also be gauged from the fact that till 2007 we were manufacturing about 120 cutters annually, but now we are manufacturing around 800 cutters every year, and last year we sold around 650 cutters all over the world.
SW – So, the slowdown of the European and the US market has no impact on your business?
YZ – The slowdown in both the markets has in fact proved good for us and our sales have increased in both the markets, in fact it is the fastest growth among other markets. Before the present crisis both these economies were not facing any economic crunch and hence they could afford products at higher costs but now post-recession their budgets are limited so they have to cut down on their investments. This is where our products come in offering an attractive choice, as our prices are cheaper and quality is also better.
SW – Which are the products and markets you are catering to?
YZ – Apart from textiles and apparels the other sectors that we provide solutions to include leather, automobile, aviation, aerospace, and many more. Out of total percentage, garments are now only 50% of the business, the other 50% is all from various industries.
SW – What is the core strength of the company?
YZ – The strength of the company is that it listens to the customers and the entire R&D is based on problem solving. One of the most common problems for straight knife cutting is that if the layer is thicker, then while cutting, deviations arise from the top layer to the bottom layer. To address this problem, Yin has reduced the blade height while ensuring that the blade always remains vertical by embedding sensors at three places. This smart design with reduced length of blade, reduces flexibility, while the mechanism supports blade shank at three points during operation (above fabric penetration) to ensure accurate blade position. This design of the knife support doesn’t damage the blade. The reduced blade height is compensated by increasing the stroke length up to 11 cm. With such a simple but effective design we ensure top panel and bottom panel matching with stroke length of 3 cm, 5 cm, 7 cm and 11 cm which is highest in the world.
